Your first visit, in six moves
Look for a dedicated bouldering area and an official first-visit or induction page.
Registration, supervision and booking vary by venue and country. Read the official page before travelling.
Stretchy clothes are enough. Ask the gym whether climbing shoes are available to hire.
Listen to the induction, down-climb when possible and practise controlled landings before climbing higher.
Move quietly, use your feet and try different wall angles. The easiest colour is the correct first project.
A good first session finishes while you still want another one. Forty-five to ninety minutes can be plenty.
